Hmm...today was a day for frivolous, reckless and (MOST important) wholly unecessary shopping. My list of purchases included:

1) Killer heels in which I can only sit (or potentially lie down)and which were difficult to even totter around the bedroom in later.

2)Make up by Max Factor - three lots of identical eye shadow duos but in triplicate as I liked the colours and thought them unusual. One eye shadow lasts three months so I bought one and a half year`s worth. Are plum ochre and lilac heaven really going to be the must have fashion colours in the winter of 2007?

3)A lilac jacket which I bought to match a little lilac skirt that I subsequently realised I had thrown out the week before in a frenzy of minimalisation. I only realised this after I had spent half an hour looking for the skirt on my return home and had lost my bed under the clothes mountain that ensued. I`ve had to relocate the clothes mountain to the chest of drawers and it has now become an escarpment. Very perilous by the look of it and we could have some freefall very soon.At least it should be a soft landing and won`t wake me during the night.

4) Chocolate marzipans from Thorntons that taunt me each time I pass them. They are nestling in one of those little bags with a cellophane front. I want to take one out and savour it....passing my tongue first over the dark bitter chocolate and waiting for that moment when the rush of sweet-bitter almond hits me. I know before starting that one marzipan fix won`t be enough. Why are all of the most pleasurable things in life, the most naughty?

Ah well, it`s late but I`m not quite tired enough for bed. Perhaps I ought to enjoy the fruits of my wayward shopping and plump up the mountain of clothes, sink into them, admire the turn of my ankles in their killer heels (well, they are courtesan shoes) and scoff my marzipan chocolates. I can always get a refund on the eye shadows.
